Vegan places to eat in San Diego California

San Diego has some great vegan, raw and vegan friendly restaurants. Whenever we’re there we have some favorites we love to visit.

Peace Pies

Peace Pies is an incredible raw vegan restaurant. They have two locations. One in Ocean Beach San Diego and one in Encinitas. They won the 2004 best of raw awards for the best raw restaurant and best eco restaurant. The owner/chef JP Alfred has written a couple of raw recipe books that are great. Everything we’ve eaten there has been good. Some of our favorites are the mystical mushroom quesadilla, luna tuna wrap, magical mango curry wrap, cheezy kale chips, the bliss burger and noble nachos. Okay I think I pretty much named almost everything on the menu. It’s all so good!

Donna Jean

Donna Jean was voted best restaurant 2018 & best pizza 2017, 2018 in the Vegan in San Diego Best of Poll. They are located on fifth Ave in San Diego. They are 100% vegan and serve seasonal plant-based cuisine. Everything is made in house there, even the pasta. I’ve never personally eaten there but my daughters have and it’s their favorite restaurant in San Diego. They both said the pasta is their favorite and everything they’ve had there has been delicious. They said the atmosphere is wonderful and the owner, Chef Roy is great.

Café Gratitude

Café Gratitude has several locations including one in San Diego. They offer a variety of options such as salads, wraps, bowls, burritos, pizza and more.

Trilogy Sanctuary Vegan Café

Trilogy is in La Jolla. They are 100% vegan, organic, gluten free, dairy free, soy free and no refined sugar. They have a variety of options on the menu including smoothies, bowls, salads, pizza, nachos, burgers, pasta, tacos and more. I’ve had their burger and nachos, and both were great. They also have delicious desserts/sweet treats.

Plant Power Fast Food

Plant Power has several locations including Encinitas and Ocean Beach. It’s a nice option if you’re looking for fast vegan food. They’re 100% vegan plant based and have several gluten free options. They offer a variety of burgers, wraps, fries, salads and shakes. My family loves their burgers and they even have a couple of raw vegan items on the menu. They have a raw burger and tacos. I’ve tried the raw burger and it was yummy. They also serve breakfast which my daughters said was good too.

Now Sushi

Now Sushi opened in San Diego’s Mission Beach neighborhood in March 2019. It’s San Diego’s first all-vegan sushi restaurant. We haven’t eaten there yet but my family is looking forward to eating there next time we’re in San Diego. They don’t have a website at this time but here is their address and phone number: 3852 Mission Blvd. San Diego, Ca. 92109 phone: (858) 246-6179

Civico 1845

Civico is not 100% vegan, but they have a vegan menu. They’re located in Little Italy and the owners were born and raised in Italy so you’re getting authentic Italian food. The staff even speak Italian. The atmosphere is great! I’m Italian and being there felt like being around the dinner table growing up. They serve vegan pastas, a lasagna that my husband loved, fresh bread and more. My daughter recently had the vegan mushroom calamari and loved it.
