Many of the great masters say that the key to happiness is being able to handle change. If you go with the flow and don’t judge things as good or bad, you will be at peace. I’ve been able to practice going with the flow and thought I was pretty good at it.
Then something changed that I wasn’t prepared for. It came at me out of the blue and hit like a freight train. I tried using all the spiritual, personal growth and positive self-talk I could come up with, but I was still struggling with this one.
I was annoyed at myself at first for not being able to just go with the flow. I thought I had the "change" thing all figured out and then along comes an opportunity to grow and learn some more. :) It made me realize that it was easy to go with the flow and not judge things as good or bad ….. until a change hit that I wasn’t ready for and had a hard time with.
When I came up for air, I realized this was an opportunity for me to grow and practice dealing with change at a bigger level. It doesn’t mean that I won’t cry or feel my feelings, but I’m able to release and let go. Through this process I’ve learned a lot about myself. I realized that I had expectations and beliefs that things would be a certain way. I was fine going with the flow as long as those didn’t change.
I’ve had an opportunity to grow personally and practice not judging things as “good” or “bad”, but to allow and trust that all is well. I've been able to practice trusting God, the Universe, or whatever you want to call it. It has helped me to feel peace in my heart with the situation.
A dear friend of mine shared a wonderful affirmation with me that made a big difference in helping me feel at peace with the situation. I repeated the affirmation several times throughout the day and anytime I felt sadness or fear come up. The affirmation is from Florence Scovel Shinn. She has a book called “The Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn”, which is a compilation of four of her books.
Here is the affirmation I used:
“I put this situation in the hands of Infinite Love and Wisdom; if this _____ (fill in the blank with whatever it is you are dealing with) is the divine plan, I bless it and no longer resist, but if it is not divinely planned, I give thanks that it is now dissolved and dissipated.”
I also used this affirmation by Florence: "All related to this are now blessed by this." This really helped me to feel that everything was happening for the greater good of everyone involved.
Are you dealing with change or struggling with something in your life? Try using this affirmation, it is a great tool for letting go and trusting that all is well.
